Ok,
I am about to buy either a Ranger or Colorado duel cab with an extended tray.
My question is :
Does anyone own one with an extended tray and if so , what is the length?
My current 01 traytop Hilux 2wd( FOR SALE by the way ), has a 2.2-2.3m tray and fits the bikes easy with the tailgate on and closed.
I know you can only go 300 mm past the chassis but I was wondering what sizes were max on each vehicle ( colorado or ranger).
Thanks Mark

my dual cab 2011 ranger fits a bike in straight with tailgate down. wont fit on diagonal with gate up. i think the new rangers and with the extended tray you might be right tho

That's a negative I'm afraid, measured most of them today, same deal, gate down.

So is 300mm past the chassis law? I've got a little fella with another on the way and its going to be hard with my 05 single cab hilux soon. For work, it coulndn't be any better (fibreglass canopy keeps tools dry but means no bike in the back for me), but a dual cab ute could be back on the cards again

As far as I have been told it is in SA anyway.
By the way after driving the Ranger in the morning and the same year /type of hilux in the arvo , the ranger is out.
Yet to drive a colorado though.

Stanadrd tray size ( by tray I mean tray NOT style side) is 1800x1800. I believe you roughly need 2300mm length ways to get 2 in with gate shut. I did anyway but it may vairy from bike to bike and it got close when my chain stretched!

The tray on my single cab hilux is 2220mm, and I had about 100 mm to the shut tailgate. Therefore I need at least 2000-2100mm for an easy fit. Not too worried about tailgate.
I understand the colorado has an extended chassis so you can put a larger tray on it?

I have the older model ranger (2010) dual-cab for a work ute and the heavy duty steel tray back is 1770 internally long and near that as wide aswell.

Lol, should have bought a Hilux! Have been able to fit a full size dirt bike diagonally in a dual cab style side tray since 2005.

Got a trailer .
Trying to kill two birds with one stone .
i.e , If the Wife is using the Prado to tow the horse float I will still have to only drive the duel cab with the three bikes in it( mine and the two boys), and not tow a trailer everywhere.
We also need a ute for hay, feed etc.
Thanks Mark

Is that a dual cab or a Extra Cab Hilux?

Dual Cab, i have had both my KTM 300, drz400 and a couple of 1000cc road bikes in with the tray up diagonally. (road bikes are shorter though)

Dc tub can have 6ft tray
Dc C/C can have 6ft 6 inch tray.

MN triton can have bigger but if I remember coorrectly if you went the biggest possible on them you needed an extended hitch which meant lowering your towing capacity to round the 1 tonne mark.
