If it has the 300 rod it'll be a destroked crank with a respecced barrel port height. It won't need a deep skirt piston Tom, they'll just change the TX and EX port heights in the 200 barrel casting.

I'm not a fan of 200s, they're either 125s with messed up B/S ratios or little motors carting around a 300 chassis. The former is the better option IMO.

KTMs new 150 will flog any 200 I've ever seen. Dedicated engine architecture is the key to a good small bore.

Close Motorcycles in Sydney are now a Gas Gas dealer & have perhaps one of the brand's biggest Australian aficionados (along with Jake & Seano!) selling and supporting the bikes - Chris Ruffley.

This should help with the "better marketing" side of things.

So, for Sydney riders at least, there is another alternative in 2-t land. I haven't ridden the bike but will be on Sunday - very much looking forward to seeing how the 2018 EC300 Six Days compares with my RR300.

There's bikes in the shop - go get 'em. My brother has just ordered an 2018 EC300 GP and I'm seething with jealousy ..

Me too. Can't wheelie more than a few metres without losing it. Put a big rock step in front of me and I'm happy putting the front wheel as high as you like, though..

As for GasGas - yes, Close Motorcycles in Sydney are now a dealer. We have bikes in stock, and a EC300 SixDays demo to ride in the bush. FWIW I am really impressed with the bike - light, fast, easy to ride with great suspension. And it's fun. Lots of fun.

The bikes are in our Marrickville workshop - I'd be happy to show people over them whenever you like. Give me a shout and I'll make sure I'm there.

If you're in the market and fancy a test ride give me a call/PM and I'll come meet you somewhere for a ride. If there's a few of you, that's better still - group ride!

If you need parts or service same deal, call me and I'll help.

Good to see some coverage on MXTV for the latest Gasser. Wattsy seems to think it's a good thing.

So, fair few rides under the belt on the 2018 EC300 Six Days demo - it's been out every weekend since we got it. Sometimes twice.

Think I'm the only one to have dropped it, so that's okay. Otherwise, the bike's holding up very well. Sticker kit is still sticking, some wear and rub marks from boots on the side panels, but nothing unexpected. Starter motor has freed up now - spins quicker than it did. Suspension has also bedded in as anticipated. Airbox has remained clean, airfilter took 3 rides to start looking dirty at all. Tyres even still look pretty good, and considering they're pretty soft compound and they spent a bit of time sideways the other day I'm impressed with that.

I've experimented a little with the power valve preload settings, and have settled at around 2.5 turns. Seems to offer enough zap while retaining the torque for hillclimbing. Bike came with I think 1 or 1.5 turns on the preload, and it was unstoppable but seemed to take days to get up on the pipe. 2.5 turns fixes that nicely.

I'm really happy with the way the bike has held up so far. It's not been baby'd around, it's not been hammered - just used as it would be normally. The finish is good, its been washed after every ride and lubed up as normal so it's just getting the standard owner experience - no special treatment.

All good so far..
