Rear Wheel Alignment - Rear Caliper Movement

Hi All,

I am trying to make sure the rear wheel is running true on my 97 360 and was wondering how everyone does it? I am currently measuring the length of the thread on the adjusting bolt, but today I thought I would do some measurements from certain positions on the swing arm/frame and got some varying fugures.....

This has all come about because I have noticed that when I apply the rear brake the caliper moves on an angle as if the rear wheel/disc is on an angle. I have checked the slides on the caliper and there are both free, could it be just uneven pad wear??
