Geo-thermal Gherang & Wensleydale - Are we going to lose the lot?

I've been doing some research into the areas of Gherang & Wensleydale (Otways) and I've found that there's going to be a number of Geo-Thermal Powerplants established in Crown Land (where we ride). The pilot plant is going to be bulit south of Wormbete Station Road (State Forest). Apparently, if all goes well, there's going to be at least 10 of these plants in the vicinity. They occupy approximately 10 acres each and from what I've found out, local residents aren't too chuffed about it.

It's a bit of a bugger really, because I've always been on the lookout for some land in that area but I don't think that Power Plants are going to enable capital growth on local land around there.

Things get even worse than that Karl!!!!!

I have heard they want tap into all the hot air at my place!!!!

I'm not sure they are actually looking at building the plants on crown land???? I heard they were aiming at private property in Gherang between Gherang rd and Forest rd. It is possible they could develop something the Alcoa Lease area north west of the Proving Ground but it is very difficult to get permits to clear bush in the Alcoa Lease (Anglesea Heath Heritage Area) and even more difficult in the Otway Forest park as that requires revising the management plans for the Forest and National Parks which was only signed off by the Minister in the past couple of years. That is not to say they may not run pipelines into public land but when Barwon Water had to take all their pipes along roads in the Bald Hills I can't see it happening unless there is a far greater yield than the current proposal is likely to have.

I reckon they should be making roads out of solar panels then they could run all the cables along the road and lets face it.......... for some reason roads connect to everywhere!!!!

They better not do it while we're doing the post ride meeting and refreshments or they'll blow the joint up.Way too much hot air.

More info here gents and some maps showing the location of the proposed 10 sites.

I live down that way now. Haven't had a chance to explore much of the trails down there yet though.

Yet.
They've put a considerable amount of money in to it. I'd be surprised if they didn't go ahead.
