Need to know anything about lights on dirtbikes and stator rewinds, get onto Betta Bikes in Adelaide! We have a state title offroad series in SA where we race at night. Steve from Betta Bikes has built his business around doing light upgrades since 1984 and definitely knows his stuff
Cool. I'm just stating my personal results on a 2015 ktm300.

For anyone wondering I just setup one on my Beta 300RR

Light is a Stedi 30w. I bought a bridge rectifier around $5.50. Remove low beam wire from headlight and connect to one AC terminal. Other AC terminal on rectifier is for the neutral wire going to headlight, on the Beta this is the green one. Then the 2 DC terminals from rectifier to lightbar. Now with low idle the AC wave is long so the light was flickering. So I put a 4700uf 25 volt capacitor across the DC terminals on rectifier and the light is now brighter and flicker free at low RPM.

So now switch on handlebar, low = lightbar and high = stock light on high beam. Battery not affected by using the AC. Little negative bike stops light goes out. But if on the battery it would for sure end up flat. Not enough charge current on stock stator.
