Bike recovered + strange info

My bike was found, but it took three months for Broadmedows Police to contact me. Also the Towing company where my bike was stored said he has about 30 stolen bikes in storage that the Police have been informed about! Ps. The Police are paying storage fees and all. WTF Broadmedows Police!

Would pay to give them a call if you bike is missing.

Was it ruined or in reasonable condition?

Glad to hear you got it back.
Increased your home security? (Assuming it was stolen from home?)
Had insurance?

Just thinking out loud here...What happens if you put in an insurance claim 3 months ago when it was stolen, then you received the payment from your insurance company lets say 1 month ago and then now the Police found your bike and return it.

Would the Police advise the insurance company?
Would you have to give the insurance payout back?
Is the bike still yours and allowed to be rego'd or is it now 'owned' by the insurance company and forever flagged as 'stolen/writeoff' ?

The bike would now legally be the property of the insurance company and would be returned to same for public tender/auction.

If the police have the bike, then it's reasonable to think that they might also have the person that stole it. Retention of the bike might have been for some legal process (the bike would be classed as evidence, would it not?)

Pretty good condition. Not insured. As for bike security. NOYB.

That's what i would have thought too. But it's more complicated the Cops tell me. Just like getting my GPS's info to them. Complicated.

I think the system works fine. Insurance covers the individual from theft, and it is optional.
For all the Australians who don't drive/own a vehicle, why should their tax dollars go toward finding stolen vehicles?

I'll tell you what grinds my gears. a Medicare levy hike to pay for all the fat ****s and smokers.
