All 05/06 Wr450 Owners Read This

today i had a problem with my 05 450f. One of the valves/plugs that are in the head that block of the USA pollution gear blew out. I will attach a couple of pics of the plug in question i suggest you check it out or get it to your yammie dealer incase it happens to your bike. I will be contacting my dealer in the morning to see if this has happened before. Has anyone heard of this or had it happen to them?????. It is right above where the header pipe exits the head.

yes it's happened before..to one of my mates, along with ....shearing off woodruff keys, and a long line of other problems...he does not ride a WR no more, he's happy on a husky.

apparently what his mechanic told him was as follows:

that was something to do with the manuel decomp on the older yammy's, but yamaha didn't ever redisign the barrel, they just put in rubber gromets, which blow out in time and cause a serious prob!

im no yammy expert but ive seen enough probs on several WR's to dought their low meatenance call!

The 03/04's blow the decomp block off plug out. Cost $4 to replace so I bought a spare to keep in my bumbag (when I had the WR). I think Hoges is talking about the air pump lines though.

Mate i think your thinking of the wrong thing BUT i may be wrong. Next to the thing that blew out on mine is the Blanked of decomp hole with grommet in it. I was told the one that has come out on mines is where the have plugged up the USA POLUTION CRAP. I will look into it further tomorrow.
