2T vs 4T weights
How can this be? Both listed as "dry weight". Both have identical chassis', suspension, running gear.
300 SE-R - 105kg 300 SEF-R - 102kg Who would have thought that 4T technology could have come so far that an FI system (pump & throttle body) & over-head (valves, cams, chain, etc) would be 3kg lighter than an expansion exhaust & carby? |

saw a 2012 sherco 300f on scales, it was 108kg with an empty tank, at that time sherco were also claiming 102kg so I'd say 102 i still a bit of an exaggeration...

Weights measured at the brochure rarely correspond to weights measured on the scales.

Im with Rmjay. If your silly enough to believe any of the manufacturers claimed weights then your need your head read
![]() You can't beat a seat of the pants ride to get a feel for a bike weight and its weight distribution. The last sherco 300 4 stroke that I slung a leg over weighed a whole bunch more than 102 and it felt a bit top heavy too. |

There's always debate over claimed vs actual weights. All I know is my 300 SEF-R feels light when riding and is pretty easy to pick up. It seriously feels no heavier than my old 2000 model KDX 200, which also had a claimed weight of 102kg.

I would have thought the motor that has way more grunt be heavier anyway .

In my admittedly quite limited: Maybe-myopic & likely-naive, narrow minded perspective:
My 4t's were harder on my drivetrain; since it's double the power & torque 1/2 as often. I've been sensualising it as double slap & whack rather than a constant tickle & trickle. In my experience: My 4t's chewed my tyres & sprockets & my output shaft-spline too. My 2t's didn't do that to me & I was top-gear mono's & full-lock sideways on both-all. Edit: This post I've recently written in the Yamaha forum/thread maybe relevant also.

EDIT....A bit of googling tells me in the WEC we are comparing E3 to E2, 250 2 stroke same weight as the 300 but. 109kg for the 450, good job there to. .
