Alstonville and around that hinterland area is indeed some breathtakingly beaut country Pete, spit on the ground and a few trees come up, have a tinkle and voila a whole rainforest appears.....

and I agree would be great to establish a northern NSW Chapter of the Mature Gentlemens' single trail club...

Ride straight out the door
Come home have a surf simple
Things are the best
20 years ago if you did see someone out there
On the trails you would know them
Stop for a chat talk about a new track
You’d cut in or found now days often
see big groups of cars parked from
out of town some even come from as far
as Newcastle just for the day

Something's drawing me inside the Tweed Volcano though, the hippies are correct, that area is mystical. Life goes so fast, been here 5 years in June.

Freeways Fordy. I did Byron to Nowra (960km) this morning in under 10 hours without speeding...(on one tank!)

Freeways have helped destroy Byron. You couldn't move in Lennox last Saturday.

Just spent a week there on a farm and loved it, Hivis might just be getting someone else to ride with!

p.s. I caught up with Hivis after talking online for 13 years. Even more interesting in real life! We had a great afternoon chewing the fat. Gods' country up there I reckon.
It's pretty close to Casino, which is the mother of derro towns. Lismore and Ballina aren't bad but there has got to be somewhere better.

Evans Head would be better wouldn't it?

It ticks nearly every box mate, I went out there and spent a full day but the place doesn't draw me to it. I reckon it'd be OK though.

By the time you pay removalists, estate agents fees and stamp duty you piss $60K up against the wall moving. It's gotta be a good value move...
