its almost impossible to completely stay within all rules, thats why we need those with the power to issue fines etc to be able ( and willing) to apply discretion. Unlikely, in my experience, with hwp. Its black or white only.

Doesn't matter how smart, right or 'enlightening' the message is, if it's delivered in a shit stained envelope nobody is going to read/heed it.

I'd also hardly call 2% of anyone's income insignificant.

Try taking that $400 mill out of their budget and you watch them bleat.

I think it would be significantly more here in Vic, I liked how NSW has a lot of their cameras signposted, down here it's clandestine, discrete cameras on bridges, in cars etc.

So Katokonvert, you were fined for obscured/illegible/wrong/not approved or whatever plate.Surprised you weren't done for over dimension load as most bikes are wider than cars on those carriers. Nit picking, but he got his quota.Recently,a bloke got done for over length on a B-double because he had a red nose zip tied to the bullbar in supprt of rednose day for SIDS.100mm over on a 25 metre B-double.When the out to profit, they will find something,no descretion,no sympathy,no warning.

Interesting point - maybe I was the last one for the shift?

If there is a quota, then the HP (in particular) must appy discretion, because once they have the number, what happens? Do they get a bonus for every offence over the number? Or do they let Mr Red Nose trucker off?

What an absolute b*llshit way to uphold motor vehicle law.

Getting a quota has no place in policing. An absolutely diabolical way to police peoples driving behaviour.

Corrupt at best.....done for our safety oh please...we are not children!!!! Neither are we stupid.

I've said for years that the best way to change this is for everyone to take every offence to court. In a day, the court system would be gridlocked. In 2 days the laws would change.

We all bitch, but we're all too damn lazy.
