Wiring Harness. You could have a ďfloating groundĒ so the regulator is pumping out 17 or more volts ?

Multiple issues I reckon. I found that capacitor taped in, one terminal rusted off, was all wrapped up in tape. It is not on the harness diagram on the beta site..
Horn and fan started all by themselves so further issues, probably water egress. I will now chase all the different loops and properly seal of all ends I don't use, i.e. indicators ect. It's pretty messy under the tank in that small triangular area in the frame. Ahh well, at least I am chasing

Went up to a 40p (only spare I had) from a 35p after a roll-on knock when the bike is hot had not been totally eradicated by needle clip change, checking for air ingress, blocked jets, etc. Plug looked good.

The knock started when I took off the OI - could going from OI @ 80/1 off-idle to 50/1 cause a lean-out?

Iím now at 40p, 165m, a/s 2, NECJ #3, 98RON/Motul 710 @ 60/1, 0-300m ASL, 14c-26c.

Rode 4hrs at our local the other day & the Beta has never run better. Fuel usage is a smidge over 1Lt per 10km.

Found the DW needle on clip 2 and a 38 PJ works the best in these bikes and will get you a smidge better economy as well

Stuck an NEDW #3 in it & went gardening at the G.

40p/165m, NEDW #3, a/s 1.5, Motul 710 @ 2% in 98RON. 15-18c, 200mASL.

Amazing what a difference a tiny bit of alloy can make to a bikeís performance.

No-cams said ďYouíll love that needle..I thought it would be your first choiceĒ. He was right! I had one in both my Gasser & Beta 250ís, but I canít remember if Iíve tried one in a 300.

The motor is less strident and lean-snatchy but with more bottom to mid pull. No knock - even under load up pinches and tight terrain (see pic) & little spooge. The NECJ is a snappy, fun needle but on narrow, steep trails when the motorís hot & youíre zapping up rocky bits, the bike wasnít loving it.

I also stopped off at Greg Ball on the way home to pick up my KYB uppers - Iím doing another SSS conversion. I paid just $250 for the fork, so why not?! Yee-hah!!

Disassembled, cleaned & re-bled the rhs legís inner cart (including mid-valve) on the KYBís as it was squealing slightly on rebound. Cavitation, I believe? Mega-bubbles in there. Air and noise is gone & action is smooth.

Oil height is 350ml, Silkolene 5wt.

I also fitted a GT 333 rear & GT 216 AA front (found by the side of the road - thanks, whoever chucked it out, itís at about 85%!) a week ago - nice tyres.

Oh, and I also put on a s/h Pro-Circuit Platinum (cheers, Roon) after I squashed my stocker in the rocks. I prefer the Beta FMF power-wise - the PC flattens the bike out a little.

Iím going to send my Beta pipe to Two Stroke Pipe Repairs in Melbourne to have it straightened out & keep the PC as a spare.

Almost 95hrs now - piston & rings at @110hrs I reckon. Another Beta love affair continues...
