Ok: doc said luxated patella, and severe impact in the shin. I punched the log real hard with the lower carbon section of my knee brace, which spread the load evenly across my leg. X-rays showed no broken shin bone, which makes me happy. He seems pretty confident in all my ligaments, MRI tomorrow will tell me the outcome. Ice and rest for the day. See how I go tomorrow!

Good so far Dao. I hope you mentioned the ACL thing as previously mentioned. I didn't know this trick and had my knees checkout out recently- $500 for an MRI, $200 for specialist consultation, $2000 for twin arthroscope (and that doesn't cover hospital and anaesthetist).

I also found out if you mention the joint is in lots of pain, and feels like it will collapse, things get sped up and costs waived.

All the best, knee injuries suck a big bag of balls!

I saw the same doc that I saw with my last two knee injuries. He hooked it up correctly 👍

Knee already feels a lot better since RICE for the last 24 hours.

I would too, it looks like you're gunna have some free time anyway.

I washed out on a down hill turn once and hurt my arm. I kept riding back to my van and even pushed it a bit with a mate on the way back. I needed a hand to load my bike though.

Later that day I was checking how I'd go at work the next day by swinging a hammer against the road, not great but not too bad. My brother and mates were insisting I get it checked out.

It turned out it was fractured and I was in plaster for the next 6 weeks.

Edit: I didn't read the whole thread before posting, doh!

Update: knee feels perfect, but I still have a decent dent in my shin. I keep getting spikes of pain my my shin, if one of my gimpy children jump on it it feels like a fresh injury. Gonna go back to the quack for another x-ray, didn't show anything the first time but something doesn't quite seem right.

No real point to this post. Just having a rant with my leg up on the couch. My youngest son decided to drop his bmx helmet on my knee a few minutes ago, that was a real nice experience.
Surely you could have taken some pics before you popped it back in.

I hope all goes well with recovery.

How common is it for a fracture to be missed on an x-ray?

I am of the opinion that the only experts in life are retired. Meaning just because someone has the credentials that doesn't count for a lifetime of experience.

My brother recently squashed and split his finger like a grape. The doc was at a standstill and didn't know what to do. My brother was offering him different suggestions and saying you have to do something.

The doc ended up filling his wound up with some kind of adhesive crap that made him feel sick all night and the crap didn't even last the night before popping out and leaving him with a weaping wound while he was asleep.

I guess there's good reason for people wanting to get a second opinion.

Excepting prostate checks, I'm not having them use TWO fingers.

I hate it when the nurse walks in afterward and asks me, "who was that?"
