Mates '18 RR300 Racing let go on the weekend. 110 hours. Suspected main bearing failure.

Did it let go catastrophically, or just an awful noise?

It'd be interesting to see what tolerances Beta were using.
To have failures ranging from 1 to 100+ hrs seems to indicate that their main bearing fit wasn't just out of spec, but also all over the place.

Dunno mate he wasn't too forthcoming with info. Was during a pony. I get the feeling it could've been bad. Will see when it's torn down.

Does anyone know what the installation problem is? Is Giuseppe smashing it in with a sledgey or something?

I heard they have been using meat balls in the bearings instead of steel ones

Would be interesting to know if Beta used the same manufacturer and size bearing that KTM used when they experienced the sporadic failures on 250 and 300s a little while ago...

Good to hear.

If these warranty jobs are just bearing replacements and they go the distance afterwards, the poor tolerance theory goes out the window.
...and it's all on Giuseppe's FBH and/or liquid lunches at the factory.
