Big thanks to Shock Treatment

Thanks for the great help to the guys at Terry Hay's Shock Treatment.

Suspension on a near-400kg road bike is out of my depth. After a spring rate test and some research they fixed me up with custom ordered Ohlins springs for the rear.

Funny how punters can throw a lot of cash at top quality parts and come up with mis-matched rubbish. There's nearly $2000 worth of Ohlins in back of my FLHRC and it rides VERY ordinarily. Not for long though!

IMO it always better to pay for expertise rather than parts themselves!

Thanks Terry and Jan.

I sometimes hear negative comments about Terry here and in conversation, often to do with price and customer service.
There is no doubt in my mind that he is one of the most knowledgeable suspension tuners in Australia and when I have checked his prices against others he is always in the ballpark. As for customer service I've always had good service from Shock Treatment.

For those interested, the bike had genuine Ohlins carts and springs up front...yet with my skinny 78kg butt on-board, the bike had loaded sag 5% over Ohlins recommended maximum. Two-up or with a heavier rider it would've been miles out.

Out back, same. OEM Ohlins springs and shocks...but, it had 220mm springs fitted to 210mm shocks. 10mm of forced pre-load right there. The rear free-sag couldn't possibly have ever been dialled in to the Ohlins spec.

Ohlins make a 200mm spring specifically for that particular shock. Terry ordered me a set from Sweden.

The front end is outrageously good now, can't wait to dial in the rear properly!

Sounds like you'll be clearing triples in no time Nutty.

Great to hear a 'good news' story about a vendor / service provider. Unfortunately it seems now, more than ever, do great by a 100 people and one will sing your praise, do wrong by one person and they'll complain to 100 people.

I've always had excellent service from Terry, Jan and the team at Shock Treatment. It's the best money you'll ever spend on a bike.

Nope, all Showa now Rohan. They've used Showa front forks fork about 10 years or so. Rears were a mish-mash over Tourers, Softails and Dynas.

Everyone is raving about the '18 suspension... but being a lot better than woeful isn't much of a wrap.

Oh, my bad. Ohlins should be alot easier to deal with now the Aussie business model is changing with Byron running the show.
