Chinese KTM's?

*not gospel*

25 acre facility nearly completed & all production shifting there within a coupla years. Chinese already doing RC8 copy. Some deal with CF Moto. Steffy might be stiffin' yas all soon. I'm sure he'll jack the price an extra G to make up for your heartache!

Anyone got the official lowdown?

I saw it on Facebook so it must be true. Although it doesn't actually say anything about ALL production being shifted there. Yet.

I haven't read anything about KTM shifting production to China. Been a while now though since they announced a partnership with CF Moto. Going by the articles I've read id say they'll be producing China suitable scooters and road bikes together in the country that will be branded as CF but with better quality KTM engines.
I could, of course, be completely wrong but I think it very unlikely that KTM will start producing their bikes in China.

I was thinking the complete opposite & if there's a chance they can build cheaper & maintain their outrageous RRP's ol' Steffy will do it! Hes all about the bottom line $$$$.

Ahh nuts I was hoping it was gonna be true & listen to the KTM fan club tell us how it doesn't bother them!

I'm in Zhengzhou for April, & every Scooter/Bike is an E bike, with a population of 11 million people i have only seen 2 petrol bikes, these looked like early Honda XR air cooled knock off
So i would presume there would be E bikes in there plans ?

My (well informed) mail is that the new Chinese plant is built ONLY to meet foreseen non-tariff production into the Chinese domestic market.

It's almost impossible to sell product into the largest M/C market in the world from offshore. The tariffs kill the price. Hence, SP made the decision to build a Chinese plant.

Many years ago the same situation arose in Japan, hence, the first mass produced motorcycle made in Japan was a ... Harley Davidson. Fact.

Went for a walk around Zhengzhou today & came across a local E bike seller, what looked like a top of the line model is 4,000 RMB/Yuen about $830 aus & this is retail, these would be perfect for CBD inner suburb travel in Aus !
