Not main bearings, not the right sort of sound for that. Really hard to tell listening to videos, but sounds a little bit like the exhaust is vibrating a bit. The other thing that can make a bit of noise like that is just the normal backlash between drive gear and clutch.

Okay perfect. If I can eliminate the main bearing sound that makes me feel a tonne better. Exhaust wasn't rattling, neither was near suspension or expansion chamber. It definitely sounds like its coming from the engine. I'll check for more rattles later, after all, it did take a little hit today

Main bearings make a squealing or running sound, not a knock.

I've had your rattle sound when the pipe is on the piss or exhaust flange o-rings are shot.

Take the pipe off, check the o-rings, loosen all muffler and pipe mounts and then set it all up nice and neat, paying attention to the alignment of the pipe in the exhaust flange.

First time I heard that sound we were 30kms from camp and I convinced myself the bottom end was going

Just changed exhaust O-Rings, so it's not that. I might try a repack - it's definitely due for one. Let's see if that fixes it.

Planning to buy a mechanics stethoscope tomorrow.

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Alex

You can use a huge screwdriver as a temporary stethoscope if you like. Check for loose engine mount bolts too.

How many hours?

Sounds like pipe/vibe related to me too. Try pushing your boot against the pipe and see if the sound changes. Then repeat with rad braces, etc.

Pull the clutch in & rev the bike - does the sound go away?

My Ď14 made a similar sound - I thought it was the clutch. Eventually, I forgot about it. Never had any mechanical issues up to 140hrs with that bike.

Check steering head nut, handlebar mount nuts, top shock mount bolt & as others have said, engine mount bolts. Also, is your seat fitted properly?

Sounds like its coming from the engine. I would be pulling off clutch side.
Is the sound more pronouced on one side of the engine?
