Great info.

From the 2019 workshop manual. To grease or not to grease?

Is it a case that the factory ones are teflon coated and replacements are not and need grease?

Iíve always used Belray waterproof grease without an issue. The first time in 2001 I used a spray of WD 40 and destroyed a bearing but read that the Belray worked ok.

What's the difference between the old & new bearings, that prevents the new ones from squeaking & knocking?

Same here, Bel-Ray (blue) waterproof grease is good for the Heim joint. Done it here for years. Read it off KTMTalk I think.
