can someone help me please. I have been running JD red needle clip 3 all through spring/summer. I am competing this weekend and temperature will be -1c to 12c range. Shall I go blue needle clip 3 (half position richer) or a full position on the red for this difference?

edit: I am using 38PJ and 162 or 165 MJ. I will have to check on the MJ.162 rings a bell.

Cheers.

Elevation would be no more than 300-400m above sea level and I have the 2012 KTM 300.

Given those temperature I would suggest going richer ? how you do this can be done a few ways.

Going richer with the blue in #3. This will make it richer than red #3 in the 1/8 to 1/4 throttle. Note ( It will probably lap over a bit more than 1/4 throttle)

Going to clip 4 on the red needle. This will make it richer in the 1/4 to 3/4 range

Going richer on the main jet (suggested JD setting for 300 is the 165) so you are currently running 162 you could go 165 or 168, etc

Keep in mind the blue is not a half clip richer. (This is from JD himself). The blue and red are identical after the needle straight section (only 1/8 to 1/4)

Or you could use a combination of the above.

Personally Id go red clip 4 and a 165 but its up to you and also depends on how you ride and where.

Thanks Riles, I have gone to clip 4 on the red. I will leave the MJ as is because most of the race is in single track and wouldn't think i would be on the MJ too often. I hope to give it a test ride tomorrow.

Cheers!
