Too late, 690 purchased yesterday.

From what I have read most issues seem to be fueling related, there are quite a few good threads on various sites about how to minimise these.

The rocker arm bearings do seem to be an issue also. Apparently this has been remedied on 2014 + models, mine is a 13 so I will be getting a set of the new rocker arm assemblies to install at the next service when I check the valves (looks like a pretty simple job ).

Will be spending some time pulling the bike apart and going through it. Plan is to do some shorter rides a bit more local and once I'm confident I'm on top of it will be looking further abroad.

I did consider getting a 500 Enduro bike, but they are woeful on the open road (not that the 690 will be great) and are too high maintenance - unfortunately every bike is a compromise.

How do you go with servicing the 480 every day or two on longer rides, would be a PITA IMO?

They are great bikes. Lift the rocker cover and look for flaking of the arm assembly, the loooong service intervals upset more bikes than anything else.

Just a quick update on the 690. I've only had the chance to do a couple of short rides but phark me this thing is fun, it's a bit of an animal - HEAPS of grunt.
The fuelling is garbage below about 3k, very jerky and the forks are a bit harsh in rockier terrain. Once these couple of issues are sorted it shall be an adv weapon Very happy!

I wonder why the 690 is so popular when the Husky TE610 and 630 didn't really take off?

Perhaps Huskie's general reputation at the time of their release wasnt so good

Will be interesting to see if the "New" Husky puts out an ADV version of the 701 althought arent KTM coming out with a twin in that class?
