I just read the 24hr rules on lights and a LED is not legal because the lens doesn't dip to the left. As a auxiliary light LED is fine.

It's been a while since I bothered to look at the lighting rules, but I think you will find TPRTEL's LED light will turn off when he flicks to low beam. I.e. the LED is set up as the auxiliary light.

I think (not sure) in the rectangular housing the lens does the dipping, hence you can run a LED or HID globe without a problem.

Thats correct, my LED only works on high beam along with my rectangular.

Some of the sealed LED lights on the market arent ADR approved but the ones that are, are quite pricey and from experience, not worth it.

Ill get my setup back on a bike over the weekend and am happy for you to come around and check it out, ive also got a GS moto setup (rectangular with halogen/hid) on the berg at the moment plus another setup (round/rectangular Halogen in both) on another bike in the shed at the moment.

Thanks for the offer TPRTEL. I'll have to have a think about which lights I'll use. I'm picking up a 2015-2017 WR250f to do the RT series next year. The standard output is 160w so I'll have to have a think about what lights I'll use.
What tyres are people using for the RT's these days?
Would this weekend be alright to come over for a look?

Tyres cant have 'not for highway use' on them and have to be DOT approved so I run Mitchy AC10 on the rear and Mitchy Enduro Comp 4 on the front.

I'm lining up for the RT next year to mate so see you there. I assume from that you're back in SA and if so you doing Rickaby?

Cheers Kipo

Barossa Valley area of SA. Usually about the 2nd weekend in July. Been going since 1924 (second longest running motorcycle event in the world). First bike leaves 12pm on the Saturday. 4 laps - 220 - 250 kms per lap about 6 hours per lap. Each lap consists of 12 competitive sections per lap on private property all linked by transport sections on public roads, 3 fuel stops. No outside assistance allowed, if you can't fix it by yourself with what you are carrying, you're out. The winner is the best total times from all the competitive sections. You also lose points for anything not working at the end like brake lights etc.etc.

Oh, and it's bloody cold at 3am in the rain.

Couple of other road legal tyres I've been pretty happy with.

Front: Dunlop 907F

Rear: Pirelli Scorpion XC Mid/Hard

Edit.
My bike came with an enduro comp 4 front, hated it! It would just slide along the wall of a dry hard pack rut instead of climbing out if needed. I fell off 3 times in 3 rides and almost a big one at +80ks, took it off and no such issue since. Now just fall off for lots of other reasons.
