I thought he had a crack at Dakar once before? Or was that his brother?

Yeah pretty sure they both have had a go with GHR Honda. First time behind the handlebars of a KTM. Bit misleading.

Toby has been cleared to fly home

I'm really psyched to be cleared to fly home to Australia! I can't thank everyone enough for the kind words, support and messages while I've been here in Bolivia! Huge thank you to Rodney Faggotter Offroad Racing for staying with me and helping wherever possible, lets get out of here!

It was a coin toss that decided which one of the Smith brothers rode Dakar this year , Todd won the coin toss . It was only 3 weeks out before the start that the opportunity arose to get to South America due to a European bloke pulling out at the last minute after already having a set up over there in place . Some genuine good Aussie blokes stepped up with some financial aid and the Jake / Todd coin toss happened to decide which one had the chance to make it a good showing . The bike he is on is a dead stocker too !

Stage 9 cancelled

Tomorrow, the ninth stage, has finally been cancelled due to the poor meteorological conditions that affected all the Dakar logistics.

Stage 9 is cancelled
A massive landslide happened on the road to join the bivouac which means the largest part of the Dakar caravan won't reach the bivouac on time to be able to start the race. The day will be devoted to regroup the caravan in Chilecito for the start of stage 10.
