.... Feel like I haven't been riding long enough to vote. Single greatest surprising ride though was an '02 KDX200. Dog ugly, felt heavy pushing it around and yet... handled like it was on rails, supple suspension that was always predictable. Bar bend was weird, levers felt weird (cable clutch - yuck!) had to ride pidgeon toed with your knees jammed into the tank to use the shifter and rear brake, and my boots always caught on the plastics because of that.
Engine sounded like a horrid snow mobile too, but it proved to be a little engine that could. Wasn't a single hill it didn't get me to the top of. If you're happy to not give a shit how new or fast it looks, sounds or how light it is or isn't, do yourself a favour and try one. Definitely a deceptive bike.

Single greatest giggle machine I have ever ridden is my '13 TE125 with a fresh top end and rear rubber. You feel like an MX superstar on it, even if you can't ride like one.

Too many choices, but I'm very partial to the black Italians...

VOR503EN

forward kickstarter, so easy, do it sitting down...
Ohlins shock
the airfilter lives under the tank so you can hear the heavy breathing when getting it on
massive void under the seat...
dial a wheelie, any gear, any speed...

Greatest bike of all time.... 2006+ YZ250. Straight up.

Reliability.
Tuning knowledge.
Price.
MX results.
Enduro results.
Frame still looks cool.
I just found a bottle of red. Cunningly hidden.
10 years of not changing model.
SSS.
Do every thing bike, depending on what rules your state has.
