free video editor to replace movie maker wanted, any suggestions?

Can anyone recommend a simple, free video editor program? When I updated to Win 10, my copy of Movie Maker disappeared. I just want something simple to put some clips together for my daughters 21st and when I look on line the programs that come up all look very complicated.

I had the same issue.

Replaced it with Cyberlink PowerDirector 15

Not as simple to use, but quite easy to figure out.

I just downloaded ShotCut - but haven't tried it yet.

You can still get a version of WMM for W7. I am still using it on W7. You have to search for a Live Essentials download - it's in that.

Hey Wazza hope you're well mate. I would strongly suggest not getting free crap video editors it will drive you insane from crashing etc all the time. Trust me I've been through it also. Best off paying $50 odd bucks for a decent program mate. I use power director. It has more than you'l ever need effects etc. I bought it 6 years ago & just use the same version so its just a 1 off payment is all unless you update it every year.... no need to though. You'll pull your hair out with the free crap mate... you get what you pay for. But if its litterally just for 1 video project I'd just maybe get a mate on here to do it for you??... just upload it in file share simple. Good luck with it all.l

Thanks everybody for the advice. I only needed to put a 10 min video together for my daughter's 21st and we had an older laptop with Windows movie maker still on it so I used that. It got the job done and all's good.

Always good to keep the old computers for things like this . They are also good for running some older 32 bit bike computer software like Ibeat

Can anyone advise software for creating slideshows with custom musical background? Must have customisable slide duration up into several minutes.
Must output .mp4 format or have a VERY easy path to that format.
