Serviced the shock - after 130hrs It was my first ever attempt at it & I won't be leaving it that long again.

Oil viscosity was like strong coffee - as was the colour

Internals looked in excellent condition - so I gave it all a thorough clean, fresh 2.5w Belray fork oil & reassembled. I used good old "air" to pressurize.

It's highly unlikely I've done it correctly first time, but the bike feels silky smooth on the bounce-o-meter.

Lighter clutch pull - update

Lighter clutch lever pull for pre MY18s

The 2014 RR350 Factory used a larger 28mm clutch slave cylinder with matching larger piston and many people have fitted this to their bikes to give a lighter clutch pull, myself included.
What isn't so widely known is that the MY14 350 Factory also had different clutch springs, spring retainers and bolts to go with the oversized slave cylinder. (See tall skinny blue springs in photos)
I have just fitted a set of springs and retainers to my MY15 XT300 to see what difference these items made. Definitely a lighter pull at the lever compared to just fitting the OS slave and this is now the lightest Beta clutch I have ridden with (other than a Clake One light).
The part numbers are
1 x OS slave cylinder - 029030550 000 $68.40
4 x Clutch spring (blue) - 029030550 000 $6.50
4 x Spring retainer/cupped washer - 029030560 000 $5.72
4 x M6 x 20 hex head bolt - 3134510 000 $0.85

FYI, all the MY18 Betas use the same parts above, except 6 springs instead of the 4 springs fitted to pre MY18s. The MY18s use a completely different clutch design which feels heavy when the bike is not running, however when the bike is running the oil is circulated very freely through the clutch and it lightens up considerably.

..rode it at *gps co-ordinates unclear* with No-Cams on his Spanish beast.

Perfect conditions for a rockstep-fest, cooling sou'easter blowing up off the lake.

Seano rode up this 15' double hell-step - it was, frankly, outrageous. As usual, the photo does the steepness & technicality of this obstacle zero justice.

I nearly gave it a crack - next time. Did the other macking one, though & the mini one below it - good challenges.

No dropsies, no other humans out there. Rode his Gasser - niiice bike, balanced, nippy motor.

Jeez, dirt bikes are good fun, hey?

Checked the Tubliss and main chamber pressures on my 300RR, it's been on the lift since August. 60psi in the bladder both ends, about 7 in the rear main chamber, it stayed that way and I pumped the front up to 10 and the bladders up to full pressure.

I decided to start it. The electric start whizzed it over like the crazy.

It's sat for 3 full months. It fired up and I held the choke out just enough to keep it idling for about a minute.

Pushed it in and it's idling with gentle blips of the throttle.

Another minute, clutch in and schantk! Into first effortlessly and I'm off around the yard. It immediately started to rain so after 2 laps of the shed I was back in.
