It's not full yet but Vintage Evo86 entries are coming in pretty quickly. I spoke to them this morning.

It's likely there will be a reserved list or maybe the cap on the class will be lifted. Nobody wants to turn riders away. I would suggest to all thinking of entering the Vintage Evo86 class to get in soon.

If you know anybody who rode the original event in 1978 lt them know there will be a special class "the 78'ers" just for them.

Australia’s biggest Enduro is having a birthday!
Tuesday 3rd – Saturday 7th April 2018
Cessnock NSW
The year 2018 marks the 40th Anniversary of Australia’s biggest Enduro and the only 4 Day Enduro in the world and it’s going to be a huge event.
The brainchild of John Hall, (the Father of Aussie Enduro), the Australian Four Day Enduro was first called the Cessnock 4 Day Interstate Challenge and the thinking behind it was to run an event along ISDE rules to prepare Aussie riders for the rigours of riding against the world’s best. The 4 Day soon gained a regular following and eventually moved from its Cessnock birthplace to be run all over Australia and even one year in New Zealand.
For its 40th birthday the Yamaha A4DE returns to Cessnock and as well as the normal Enduro classes there will be Vinduro classes for older bikes and riders with modified times and a special class for those that rode the inaugural Four Day in 1978.
Fittingly enough that class will be called the “John Hall 78’ers” and they will feature in a “demonstration event” at the Day Four final moto. They do not have to ride the full 4 Day event to ride in the “demonstration”. A first place trophy will also be awarded to the highest placed 1978 returning rider (ie. Rider had to have ridden the original A4DE in 1978).
If you know any of the originals pass the news on, let’s get as many as we can to help celebrate. They don’t have to ride, but it would be a great tribute to John Halls’ memory if they could attend.
Entry fee is $650
Special early bird discount price of $570 for entries received by 11:55 pm, 29-03-2018

Spread the word, let’s make it Australia’s best enduro ever!

Classes:
Enduro 1: 100cc to150cc two stroke and 150cc to 250cc four stroke
Enduro 2: 175cc to 250cc two stroke and 275cc to 450cc four stroke
Enduro 3: 290cc to 500cc two stroke and 475cc to 650cc four stroke
Veteran All Powers – Rider must have turned 35 years on or before 1/1/2018
Masters All Powers – Rider must have turned 45 years on or before 1/1/2018

Vintage EVO86 (Support Class) All Powers – Only Enduro motorcycles with air cooled or liquid cooled engines, drum or disc brakes and twin shocks or mono absorber or cantilever, will be admitted. Only motorcycles manufactured up to 1986. Rider must have turned 45 years on or before 1/1/2018. In the case of a tie on times, the older rider will be the best of both.

The Search is on for the original riders from the 1978 Four Day Enduro, see the list of names below.

We are on the hunt for anyone who rode in the original Four Day in 1978. These riders are invited to attend the event either to ride a modified course suitable to their age, to just ride in the Demonstration Laps at the final Day 4 moto or to simply be there to help honour the man who started it all, John Hall, the “Father of Enduro” in Australia.

Any of the original 78’ers seeking further information can contact Deeds Raymond, deeds660@icloud.com

Below is a list of riders being searched for, if you know any of them, then please pass on this information.

Guess Who’s Coming To Cessnock?
In 1980, only it’s third year since inception, the A4DE at Cessnock attracted its first ever International competitor who took the Outright win home with him and in 2018 he’s coming back for another ride to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of this prestigious event.
It’s official, an enduro legend, winner of 8 ISDE Gold Medals, 8 AMA National Enduro Championships, 60 National Enduro wins in the USA and developer of the Moose line of off road riding gear, Dick Burleson is riding the Vintage Class at Cessnock in 2018.
Aussie enduro legend Phil Lovett will be hosting Burleson during his visit and the search is now on for the bike that Dick rode in 1980. It was a 1980 Husqvarna WR250 and if anybody knows its whereabouts please get in touch with Geoff Udy udyquadcountry@gmail.com
It would be fantastic to reunite Dick Burleson with this piece of Australian enduro history if possible. It may still have the scrutineering markings from 1980 on the engine cases, rims and hubs, a splotch of paint with the riding number 1 scratched in it. The registration number plate was QS-027 as can be seen in the picture of Burleson leading the parade of competitors through Cessnock prior to the start in 1980.
The support for the Vintage class, riders over 45 and bikes up to 1986 has been phenomenal and all places are now taken. Riders can still enter though and go on a waiting list to replace any who may not be able to attend. If other classes don’t reach full capacity then that may open the way for more Vintage Class entries.
So for anyone planning to ride the 2018 A4DE in any class it‘s best to get your entry in ASAP. The event can only take a set number overall, so don’t leave it to late and miss out.
Individual Entry Fees
Early Bird Entries: $570.00. Early Bird Entries Close: 6th February, 2018.
Standard Entries: $650.00.Entries close: 20th March, 2018.
