One lucky "over teh bars" and one unlucky "Ill just let this one go"

Well, it might be some time before Rick is out of the hospital waiting room, so i may as well kick this one off for the others to add to.

Rick, another bloke (Forgot your name, sorry mate) and myself met at the MX car park at 9, before meeting up with Azza and Alex at the edge of the forest. They had already been riding since seven.

The plan was, i think, to set off and meet up with a another DBW group at the homestead at 9.30. We were there at about 9.35 i think but no sign of the others so after waiting for a bit we set off again.

The conditions were pretty much perfect. No dust, a bit of mud but not to much. Just enough to have some extra fun around the corners. The single through the pines was delicious, if it were some type of cake, i would of happily eaten it all. But it wasn't. It was mud and dirt and rocks and shit. Ah well.

After some haphazard assumption of where we were actually going, we made our way through some of the delicious cake like single track and back to the ridge above Lambchop. After a brief discussion and some "hell yea lets just do it's" from me and Azza we continued down the road to make the decent into the valley. There was a bit of anticipation about hitting Lambchop as the stories from those that had been there earlier in the day were suggesting that it might actually be some form of a difficult hill, with mud and rocks and shit. Personally i was just looking forward to Lambchip providing some form of challenge

This is where i had my lucky escape. We went down the track at the very end of the road on the ridge. I took a slightly different line, and after having my rear wheel lock into a rut some half a meter to my right, and me making the novice mistake of grabbing to much front brake, found me doing the superman over the bars with the back of the bike in hot pursuit of my ass.
Luckily, my new armor paid for it's self as my chest landed fair on a stump and i came to a rather ungraceful halt a few meters down the hill.
It didn't seem quite so bad to me, but Rick (thank god he had his helmet cam on for this one!) who was behind me told me he really thought i was in for a world of pain lol. I am very much looking forward to seeing the footage.

So, after dusting myself off and noticing the KTM was damage free, i set back off down the hill after turning the bike around and while a couple of the guys ummed and arr'd about doing lambchop, someones fart made up everyone's minds and we were up that hill quick smart!

Rick went first, but lost his momentum after a recently fallen tree held him up. After some wheel spinning he came to a stop about 1/4 the way up. Apparently, the tree had not been across the hill when the others had come through in the morning!

Seeing an opportunity to get myself once again on the camera, i set off after him and thanks to my gorgeously torquey bike, powered up the hill with no problems, past rick (still stuck) and giving it a bit more gas than usual for the camera. Im an awful show off when cameras are about

So, after we all get to the top of Lambchop, we set off again through some more luscious single trail and eventually found ourselves at that flat bit of paddock with the natural jumps through the little valley there.

This is where things got a little interesting. We all did a couple of rounds through said jumps, when as i turn around to watch the others come through, Rick comes through, and as he comes over the first hump, the front wheel is right up in there air. From what he was saying, it was at this point he decided to let the bike go.
He takes his hands off the bars, seemingly to just let the bike wheel stand from under him, but something caught and he stayed on the seat and then went down with the bike. No offense man, but it did look pretty comical.

Anyway, rick gets up and starts hoping round. Looks as though he as hurt his left leg. upon being asked if he is ok, he just says his knee is a bit numb and that there's gonna be a big bruise there tomorrow.
After Alex and I have lifted his bike up and got it on the stand, we are all standing around talking to rick about what happened, his knee is still numb.
Its at this point, i notice that there is a small tear behind his knee, in his brand new pants!
I mention this, and after looking a little more closely "hey man, i think you might of cut yourself, there's a bit of blood"
At this stage, Azza and myself went in for a closer look. The astounded whistles from both of us alert Rick to something not being right. a few moments later Azza'a words of "I can see bone in there" confirm to Rick that his knee is numb for a whole many more reasons than bruising.

So, big ups to Azza for the first aid kit. He whips it out and dons some gloves, and down come Ricks pants *insert porno groove beat here*.
Ricks foot peg has torn a large hole behind his knee, its a jagged tear and looks really, really rough. After some discussion of what to do next, Azza decided to do a quick gauze and patch job and let Rick ride back to the cars.
So Azza throws some gauze on it, a bandage to hold it on and back to Sutton road we head.
To prove us all wrong, Rick is chucking wheelies all the way out!

So we load Rick and the other blokes bike back onto Ricks trailer, and off they go to Calvary. Azza, Alex and I headed in for a drink and a feed. Rick was not happy with this :P

Both my over the bars and Ricks get off were caught on Ricks helmet cam, and Azza got a couple of pics as well i think, so with any luck we will see those either tonight or tomorrow. What happened to Rick was a real shame but before then it was a great mornings ride, thanks guys!

Pat
