Cool How to stop newbie spammers

Often on this wonderful site, you see new threads from people with their first post. This troubles me a bit as once they get their answer you never seem to see them again. Sometimes I feel used and annoyed. This site has a bit of a community feel with everybody helping each other out.

My suggestion, if the software allows it, is that you shouldn't be able to start a new thread unless you have so many posts, maybe 10 or 20 or whatever. I think you should have to contribute to the site before you take from it. This would also stop alot of 'Ken' type threads. Also it would give new guys a little practice on what is acceptable and what is not before they start a thread that leads no where. It would seem that some guys that start threads on their first post never come back to check on it or it's just to advertise some website.

Just my 2 cents. Any thoughts?

I really don't think it's an issue...

(But I'm wierd and my ferret's breath smells like banana chips.)

The last thing we want is a cliquey feel or to exclude people who need help...?

My observation suggests it is the regular posters that need the most help....

I don't really see the issue myself.
There are boards I've joined in the past which I only turned up to to ask a question, but stuck around once I saw the quality of responses etc...

Honestly if I had, had to make a certain amount of posts before starting a new thread.. I would of just forgotten about my registration here and looked somewhere else for advice.

I am a complete n00b to bikes and there is very little I could offer to get my posts up. Unfortunately there will always be people who get what they want from a forum and leave, while others will stick around to help out.

If posting was limited to saying something helpful, I'd have absolutely nothing to contribute!
