yz250 source coil no spark

Hey guys,

I am having trouble with my 2001 yz250. It was running fine all day yesterday and then I try to start it this morning and it's as dead as a doornail.

I have no spark at the plug. Changed plugs but no good.

Tested plug cap and all coils etc and there is one that appears to be open circuit. It is the "source coil 2" in the stator. It should be ~50 ohms but I cannot get a reading (I briefly had 20 MOhms).

So my questions are:
1. will this prevent a spark at the plug?
2. can I replace this coil separately from the stator?
3. I guess I need to buy a flywheel puller to remove the rotor

Any help is appreciated

cheers

wanger

G'day again,

Betta Bikes wanted $180 to rewind the single pole on my stator, MrMX wreckers had a used stator for $160.

With this in mind, I decided to rewind it myself. ?

Total cost = $14.48 and about 2 hours of my time. Well worth it I think!!

I will put up a how-to as soon as I get my act together.

Bike started 2nd kick and I'm roostin' again!

cheers
