Yeah definitely, hang gliding actually compliments dirtbike riding very nicely. The best time of the year for flying is in summer right when it's less fun riding. And taking a couple of months off from riding around December/January really chargers your riding "batteries".

It also compliments surfing too, as surfing is best in the morning before the sea breeze kicks in, which is the wind you want for flying. My brother actually had a play that morning on his hydro-foil surfboard and then went flying later the same day so he was buzzing.

Most pilots prefer cross country flying, (getting high and flying long distances), where as I really like the low level stuff known as dune gooning. This was a really good session at Christmas time.

But I also have a top of the line high performance glider for when I feel the need for speed. Check out the side wires when in a full on dive, the wing flexes so much they go loose.

I love these posts on different things people are doing. My kids both hang glided, in tandems, in Queenstown recently. Not sure if i want to take it up as a sport, but i do like getting ideas from you lot.

There's a few good threads on toys and activities people are up to with their kids.

I prefer the forums. Facebook is ok for a quick flick through on topics you like (i like old hifi stuff for example), but i am cautious about adding/writing anything myself.

The only engine sounds I get are mowing the lawns, so naturally I took it to the extreme. I had 10 in the shed at one stage. Down to about 6 or 7 now.
Kinda why i started my idle ramblings thread , covers everything , good for venting too !
