Some one need to make a wear indicator. I am surprised that foam is still best tech for this, not some kinda gel/rubber.

Now that i've looked, we have 5 helmets we still use ranging between 2005 and 2011 manufacture date, but all very well looked after and in very good cond, to look at.

Father Christmas might be on helmet duties this year.

9yrs on my last helmet. Looked a bit beaten up and feeling too loose. Would replace a helmet if had a hard hit or crash damage.

Every 4 years on average , they generally start looking a bit shabby in the liner . If i replaced it everytime it took a knock I'd be up for a new one every couple rides , that's not happening .

Replace when broken. Or twice in the last 3 years.

A lot of people don't understand how a helmet works, so they don't replace them when recommended. 5 years since manufacture and they get retired for me, but I like a functional brain?

Every 3 to 4 years.
A new helmet is great & then buy new kit to match!
Ronnie Mac has set a trend in helmet design - Fox think so anyway with their disappearing magnetic peak innovation.

Yeah: Valid point's for those with a Brain & Whom wish to Keep it.
I've been guilty in my younger years of keeping a helmet for ages.

The simple fact of the matter; being flat broke: It was that or nothing.
People should recognise & realise it's more re. the Foam than the Shell.

It would be nice if manufacturer's provided replacement foam options.
That's never gonna happen though: Since-suing Capitalists is a Bitch.

I made a vow a while back not to hassle Poper so/if he left me alone.
I feel it's important for people to know it's the foam rather than shell.

Edit: I'd really like & indeed I crave for a deeper talk with you Jakobi.
This thread is likely not that place nor time: Yet, I'm keenly up for it.

Neither's mine... I've forgotten what you're complaining about... Selective memory is a useful skill imo.

I'm sure we've all made choices in our younger years that have impacted on us as we age.

It's easy to identify significant damage through a certain event, but as disco alluded to earlier. The combined effect of many life choices and smaller (at the time insignificant) events surely play a part as we age aswell.

I know for certain my memory is no where close to what it used to be 10 years ago.
