I tried injections, exercise and other various things then I finally bit the bullet and got the operation on both wrists. The operation took about 4 hours from arriving to leaving I couldn't ride for about a month but when I could what a difference I wish I hadn't waited so long to get it done.

I was just talking to a guy yesterday who has had both wrists done by an upper limb surgeon here at Redcliffe who sounds like he really knows what he was doing. He did it under local anaesthetic, and the op took about 15 mins all up from go to whoah ... the cutting took only about 5 mins. He's really happy with the results. If you let it go too long it can reach the point where the nerve is damaged and won't recover.

Just had mine done 1 week ago stitches out tomorrow. I used to wake up 10 times a night with dead hands and 50 times on a night after a ride tried wrist support and acupuncture I think it helped a bit but not much. Since the surgery I have not had pins and needles or numbness once. Canít wait till I get back on the bike to see what difference it makes.

How long did you guys wait until you ride?? Iím thinking 12 weeks till I try but my recovery in 7 days so far is crazy getting massive improvements every day.

Cheers

Gee that's unreal. I wake up heaps with totally numb hands. I am using the braces. They help. Did you go under or just in a doctor's surgery?

I actually have pins and needles in my hand most of the time now.

28 years ago - L3-ish. I don't think it's that. Is that what you are alluding to?

likewise, i used to brace the left hand after each ride or i'd wake up with a completely numb hand. luckily i haven't had to for a while now since swinging to the desert racing version of steg pegz. the rubber pucks still out the proverbial country mile and can get in the way on steep descents but it's been magic for my fingers and arms. not saying it will work for everyone though.

forgot to mention this in my earlier post, but i found that all the techniques i was using to beat arm pump did make things easier on the carpal tunnel syndrome - no magic cures but definitely a big help in case anyone wants to try them.
