I've got a 5L plastic jerry; it's round now; I bought it square.
Atleast it didn't burst; I still use it; being the tight-arse I am.
If that thing could talk; many stories to-tell in-my back-pack.
======================================

380EXCQLD... 500ml plus 20L = 20,500ml.
That extra 1/2L uses it's neccesary air-gap.
Yes, it can be done... It may-well burst too.
===========================

The plastic jerry of mine is actually 4.5 litres.
The max-fill line is marked... I'd ignored that.
Pic-edited into-post-here... I'll-now-wear-this.

H1 ...'Tight' is a Broad, Generic descriptive!
If you wish to recieve general acknowledgement here
you shall have to be more quantatively accurate!

I.e. as in How tight

...as a fish's arse or a nun's ninny?

FFS, how hard can it be?
500ml into the jerry at home, 20L measured at the bowser

FWIW, I did mark the jerry with 20L when I first got it. Haven't seen a reason to not trust the bowser yet.
I'm not losing sleep over a litre of ulp here or there anyway. 35:1 or 45:1, I don't think my world is coming to an end.

I realise things are a bit different for some of you hardcore serious racing for world title fellas.
...and Hanny ofc

Nor Mine But maybe some extra Sppool as Old Mate said it post 1 as 40:1 is in fact 37.46:1
But in the meantime how about we focus on the unscrupulous types in the fuel industry tryig to tell us how they clear less than 1.5c/l ?? whic was the underlying point !

Did he measure his sag with verniers?

On bowser accuracy... in a former life I used to calibrate meters for Shell and BP on remote properties, mines etc. in NT & northern WA.

My boss had methods that ensured we never had to buy fuel when out on service runs for weeks at a time.
However, one time he fcked up and we had to buy fuel at Rabbit Flat in the Tanami. It was after dark, so we had to go get them out of their house to unlock the bowser.
Being the most remote bowser in the country the price was already pretty steep, but once we'd filled a 44 and had 260L showing on the bowser we knew we'd really been had, along with every other customer.
The boss had steam coming out of his ears, but had to shut his mouth and pay.

The owner had the advantage that Gilbarco would call ahead to confirm someone would be there, before they'd make the trek out from Alice Springs.
Simply wind the calibration back and re-crimp the seal before the technician turned up

...how about tight as a drum?

If I really wanted my ratio to be 40.000:1 I should probably be weighing the fuel and oil.
Now I understand why Gypsy hates mixing fuel

Vicco's and South Africans
Keeps our booming retirement villages and health industry pumping though.

Seems quite a few benders are moving to Tassie.

We only lived in Darwin for a year in 03/04.
Our son was conceived there and the saying in Darwin then was 'when in pain, catch a plane'.
Hence we moved back here.

Was a great job up there. Worked from Tiwi Islands to Uluru, Arnhem Land to Fitzroy Crossing and most places in between.
I don't miss cleaning Avgas tanks with full BA gear in January though
