Jnr dirt track

Hi guys,

Any Dads or Mums out there that have their kids in a local dirt/flat track club?

Looking to get my young bloke involved at our local club on the Central Coast and looking for info on the pros and cons of the bikes he's eligible to ride.

We were out there yesterday checking it out and got some mixed views on certain bikes.
He's turning 9 in December and I'm looking to get him started on using a clutch. Currently been riding his TTR50 for a few years and is ready for the next step. He actually monsters the bike now but been using the carrot of a new bike as motivation for good school reports.

He's quiet tall and he sat on a few bikes yesterday.
We were told a CRF80f is a great starting point and he could ride in the unmodified and the modified class on one. Having a look around online today and I see CRF100's? Are the CRF100's much difference to the 80?

The 85 two strokes are a touch to tall but by next year this wont be an issue...Though I think it to be too big of a step up just now.

Lots of 2 stroke KTM's and 4 stroke Hondas, just more wondering what the choices were I guess.

Any input or insight would be great.

Thanks
Adam.

Umm, 90% of Flat track bikes are lowered...forget height.
KX85 is the most robust and the radiator is on the best side. They're tougher than all the other 85s. Forget 4Ts, it'll cost you a bomb and they're heavy.

At one time my boy rode 52, 60, 80, 4stroke and Sidecar at the same time every meeting, he loved the 80 most. Don't be timid about putting him on a lowered 80, he'll pick it up in a few rides.

p.s. The KX is easiest to lower as well.
