2 strokes sitting for ages makes me think about rusty cranks and bottom end bearings. I understand that some premix oils are much better than others at preventing rust during storage. But living in a humid area any seeing spots of rust on cranks I taken out (when I used TTS), I've become paranoid about it. So when no using for a while, I leave our 2-strokes stored with the piston at TDC and hoping the reeds seal the other side reasonably well. Also using muffler bungs and 800T oil.

It was an old shitstir, but it also does work as it drains the carby. The small amount of fuel left in a carby tends to get stale quicker than that in the tank.


If you lay the bike on it's side you end up with a fresh(er) carby full of fuel.

Dumps some fuel in the crankcase for quicker cold starting.
