Batchelors - Your Trusty Meal?

Mine is spaghetti bolagnaise.

It's a simple recipe my Mum showed me years ago. And it's so damned tasty.

After a big drive and a full days riding, I got half way home and was suddenly craving sged bog.

So, what's your quick knock up, or easy-for-blokes meal?

Knocked up???

My quick knock-up (apart from the missus- did that 2 times now...)

Some bloody chicken thing.

Chicken thigh fillet, coriander, sweet chilli, fish sauce, garlic, ginger.

Cut up the chook and stir fry. Throw in some garlic (2tsp) ginger (1tsp), fish sauce (1tbsp) sweet chilli sauce and just before you pull it off the heat, some chopped coriander. I have it with rice or rice noodles. Sometimes I use the Trident brand pad thai packed noodle mix from the shops or just stuff up something as I go. Even the kids eat it.

Oh SHIIIIIT, I'm not a bachelor a anymore!!! Ignore the recipe!

My bachelor recipe was (apart from eggs on toast) 1/2 kg mince, can of tomato soup, some onion, garlic maybe some corn or peas as a stew or casserole. good with spaghetti or toast or mashed potatoe.

I havent made it in a while, but when i was growing up we went through some tought times, and my dad would make a massive batch of this recipe now and then and we would eat it for a few days. Whenever i make it it braing back heaps of memories, but if you get it right its also really tasty.

(these days i am a bit of a foodie and rarely cook something this simple haha)

'DAD's Stew'(showing qty to feed 4)

1/2 cabbage
2 carrots
3 potatoes
(frozen peas if you got em)
1 lrg onion
500g mince
2 packets Chicken noodle soup
1 pack 2 min noodles.

Dice all veges and steam them for 5 min, then drop them in the water under the steamer(try to have about 500ml water). Fry the mince seperately then add it to the veges, add the chicken noolde soup and simmer for 5-10 min. break up the 2 min noodles and simmer for another 5 min. eat with slices of bread and butter

Sounds basic, but almost every time i try to add more/improve it with spices etc it never comes out right. Flavor improves the next day lol (seriously my dad had this maaaasive soup pot that he would make about 5x the amount above, and we would eat it breakfast lunch and Dinner for days. Pretty awesome on toast too if i remember)
