Thanks for the DBW combined input. I am going with a suspension guy that has rubbed shoulders with Mal in a past life. Still haven't settled on Bilsteins or EFS yet...

For future reference...
EFS have 3yr / 100,000km warranty

Bilsteins have 5yr / 100,000km warranty (fully rebuild able)

Who's giving that warranty on the Bilsteins? and what are the conditions on it?
Im on my second set of Bilsteins and about to purchase some EFS instead this time.

I rang the importer today. Ring him yourself - good fella to talk to. A Vicco number - went to http://www.bilstein.com/ to find the number.

What do you think of your Bilsteins? What went wrong? What type of use?

OME 2" lift on a GU Cab Chassis. Bit over 2 years old now - still rides great though I need to replace the bushes in the rear leafs after this years Cape trip. Pretty wild up there this year. I will be going back to rubber though - purely for longevity.

What did you end up doing and are you happy with it?

Pick up a new rig shortly and will be getting a 2 lift. Have OME in current vehicle which has been ok, 110k on it now so past its best but still drivable.

Looking to try something different this time around have been looking at bilstein or koni shocks along with king springs. Should I get a progressive spring in the front end, will this assist ride quality?

There is so much choice and Im sure much of it is rubbish, any help appreciated.

No. What do people think happens to the soft section of a coil when 1200kg of Cruiser front end is lowered onto it? It all disappears in pre-load. Even Mercedes couldn't get VR springs to work in heavy vehicles. The main benefit of VR springs in 4WDs is they stop violent topping out over jumps and such. For a tourer with barwork/winch etc they're not as good as a straight-rate, OK on rock crawlers as VRs hang on a bit longer in full extension traction.

They're good in the rear of FWD sedans though.

I ordered my ute with a gvm upgrade and lift , they deal with ARB as its a pre rego thing , i stood firm on going with the highest constant load available , they use old man emu , same as i had on my old ute . Still handles and drives fantastic even unladen , better again with excavator on tow and ute loaded up . 220k of the 240k i sold the old ute with was on old man emu and still going strong , cant explain how nice the new ute is with it !
