Grooves, worn in the water pump shaft from the seals, caused the coolant to weep out the tell tale. The fluid was absorbed by the sponge in the bash plate and went unoticed.

Apparently, there was a recall in Europe for the shaft in this model, due to them not being hardened properly. No recall in Aus.

Sherco parts $160 for the shaft, 2 seals & 1 bearing....

The bloke at the local bearing shop is sorting it out.

Hey Devans,
The bike is a 2013 250f. Most likely not a problem for the newer models.

The bike has a total of 220 hrs. Not sure if the water pump was replaced when the motor had a full top & bottom rebuild at 150hrs.

Very happy no damage was done, & didnt notice it running hot.

It would be nice if Sherco could sharpen the pencil with parts prices though.

Water pump shaft for a Sherco. $86
Shaft for a 4t Beta. $19.

Get my seat back from Topline covers this week & ready to go.
Might get the expansion chamber polished up next, any recommendations?
Did you notice much difference by going up 1 tooth on the rear sproket Porkchoppy? I assume you had enough length in the original chain?

Sorry I was thinking about the tiger 800xc when I wrote that
Yes I tried a 52 from my Husky 449 I had here but the chain was too short by a mile, but I will go that way when the chain has a bit more wear so I can do the really steep stuff in 2nd gear.

Was enough length in the chain but any bigger and I'd need more links!
As for noticeable difference going from 49 to 50, about as much as you'd expect. A little, not a lot.

Hi Guy's
A few weeks ago I smashed my second front guard, yesterday went searching for a replacement. First stop KTM shop in Gosford explained to the parts guy I need a front guard for my sherco, it has white power forks and I want white not pumkin, out he pops with a polisport apart from different size spacers fits perfectly even fits my aftermarket ktm headlight better.
Cheers Michael
