Secondary air filter???

First air filter change on my new Husky and I find a secondary filter and plastic shroud/funnel on the inside of the regular air filter.... Never seen anything like it and not mentioned in manual nor can I find anything via Google. Can anyone shed some light, can I run without it as it seems/looks so restrictive???

It looks like the dealer didn't remove the restrictor (plastic shroud) when doing PD. The second filter is probably there for noise suppression as well.

I'd remove both of them they are not needed.

a) It's the new Euro 4 compliant filter designed to stop the venting of aromatics to the open air.

b) The engine is mapped to that filter. Decide which exhaust system you wish to run and then load the 'closed-course' map to suit that pipe.

Welcome to 2017.
