2014 KTM Ride4Kids .... help Jez to make a difference

Hi, I'm posting this on behalf of my son Jez who's participating in this year?s KTM Ride 4 Kids event.

For those who haven't heard of it, the Ride4Kids is a day of non-competitive riding at the Wonthaggi MX track, providing the opportunity for riders to have a great day on a professional track while raising much needed funds for children living with cancer. Last year over $50,000 was raised.

This is our third Ride4Kids day, and we?ve previously raised nearly $3000 for Challenge. This year we hope to raise another $1500.

We?ve learnt a lot about the work that Challenge does since doing these events, and it?s been a great character building exercise for my son. He?s come to understand that there?s a lot of kids out there that aren?t as lucky as he is, but that also with a bit of effort, he can make a difference. The effort that DMCC put behind this event has also been instrumental to us joining the club.

This is where DBW comes in. I've been a member here for a long time, but have only been on a handful of DBW rides, and not many of you would know me personally. Nonetheless, I'm throwing it out there for anyone who'd like to make a small donation to the cause, as every bit helps

Donations can be made online at Jez's fundraising page: https://ride4kids2014.everydayhero.com/au/jez

Please add your name and optionally "DBW" on the donation page, so that others can see your generosity

Thanks in advance for your support...
Please also post a comment on this thread to keep it alive

Mods - please let me know if this is against forum rules or needs to be moved/modified

Cheers
Chris (Hammy)

Thanks to the generosity of our local community we've raised $500 so far, one third of our goal with 4 weeks to go

Any donations appreciated, no matter how small. A great cause that we care deeply about

To this point we've nearly raised $900 which is a fantastic effort, and a huge thanks to those that have donated. Even small amounts help the cause

I should also add a disclaimer that there are 2 KTM 85's up for grabs. One to the highest fundraiser (which won't be us as we don't have that much influence...), and other fundraisers > $300 on the day go into a draw for the second bike. This is a bit of a carrot for the kids obviously, but doesn't take anything away from the cause, and the true benefits that this fundraising can bring to the likes of some unfortunate kids.

I've avoided posting on Walks' thread given the terrible situation his mate
and son is in, and don't want to divert any attention away from his fundraising effort which is highly commendable. If anyone is donating to this cause, please consider Walks as well http://www.dirtbikeworld.net/forum/s...d.php?t=115553

With only 4 days to go we've raised $1,300 with an aim to reach $1,800 by Sunday

If you have even just $5 and a minute to spare, please visit https://ride4kids2014.everydayhero.com/au/jez

It's a very worthy cause

Well what a great day this was. Over 120 riders took to part in this ride in support of Challenge, at the Dandenong Motorcycle Club track at Wonthaggi on Sunday

Over $33,000 was raised, and the top 10 kids raised over $17,000. That's pretty damn special!!

My son Jez was the 4th highest fundraiser with $2200.

There's a good write up on this years event and the motorbike camp for the Challenge kids held on the Saturday here http://www.challenge.org.au/news/fx-....cfm?loadref=3

Hats off to the KTM guys (Toby Price, Wayde Carter and Matthew Hopkins-Talty ) who donated their time over the weekend with the Challenge kids. Cameron Taylor and a few others joined them in a great little expression session as well.

Tobys web page also has a good write up on his involvement and the event history. http://www.tp87.com.au/?portfolio=ne...tm-ride-4-kids

This year the kids from the Challenge camp had their own ride class for the day and did several sessions around the MX track, as well as being escorted elsewhere around the complex. It was quite heartwarming to see them cruising around all day, and was no doubt a welcome break from their lives which normally revolve around their treatment/condition.

Yours truly survived a few sessions on the mx track, before retreating out the back to practice my log hopping, and supervise my daughter who rarely gets to ride and was happily cruising around on her brothers KX.

The local paper also has a nice summary of the day
