Yep I'd definitely be keen to get a ride on one but the release of the freeride 250r has put a dampener on the idea for me. I think ithe ktm will be a much more polished and versatile bike without giving up too much to the sherco for real tech trials type terrain

I'm not so short (179cm) but relatively short legs. I think the Sherco will sit lower, by maybe an effective 10cm or so. I appreciate a lower centre of gravity. Otherwise an fr250r would be mighty tempting.

The difference is significant though?

Well you're one up (or is that two?) on me.

It was a while ago, at the last Melbourne bike show so I don't recall well, but I remember the xride feeling bigger than I expected.

The listed difference is 65mm but I'd say that with more travel, the KTM is probably setup with more sag and the seat isn't as square edged. Also aren't sherco known for under measuring seat heights?

Dunno. But the only way I'll know is to put my bum on one of each.

Next month hopefully.

Sherco were measured to seat base at it's lowest central point in the past(way lower than other enduro models even when measured the same as other makes).. My 09 is the last of the smaller seat height Sherco's.. 2010 onwards seat height is very much the same as any other make when talking enduro models and think You will find is stated that way by Sherco..

Yeah i had heard that. Thus year 250f is listed at 950mm so maybe the 850mm of the x ride is correct?

Last week I emailed Moto Central, Triple R MC's, and Sherco Aus asking when an ADR'd X-ride 290 will be available - zero response. Unprofessional and a tad frustrating. Got the money in my pocket and its burning a hole.
