Doc checked it out and said fractured tibia, go get an x-ray to confirm and we'll chuck you in a moon boot for 6 weeks. After x-rays I got a call saying that there was no fracture, so probably just some ligament damage but to just take it easy and it will sort itself out... All i heard was no moon boot, sweet, I'll rest up for a week or 2 then go riding again.

I've started training/running pretty hard recently and it seems that and a mix of the colder weather has stirred it up again, its been pretty sore the last couple of days. Not it's going to collapse sore just an ache. I can live with it for now but might have to get it checked out properly sometime because I'd prefer not to live with it forever.

I did a similar thing to the wrist last year. An MRI after X-Rays revealed I had severe bone bruising from the tendon/ligament stress to the bone. The specialist said that can take 6 months or more to fix itself. And indeed it did.

Keep it moving, stretch and do low impact weight bearing exercises, balancing etc. Yoga is the best thing I have found for soft tissue damage rehabilitation, it takes time but it works.

Bit of an update guys.
First, thanks to those who have enquired about it or posted suggestions to assist in recovery, cheers.
So that ankle is coming along ok. Off all regular pain killers for bit over a week now, still got some to use when needed but thats hardly at all now.
Main issue at this point is one of the wounds from the surgery isn't healing well, very slow. Surgeon says once its healed better I can start some physio/rehab.
As it turns out but I have a minor Talus fracture in my other ankle aswell so in 2 boots now. It was sore, bruised and swollen the whole time I was in hospital (16 days). Was X-rayed the day I did it but didn't show anything. No further investigstion done on it.
Was discharged from hospital on it using crutches. It hurt but apparantley I had sore ligaments. Strap it up, put a jogger on and away I go. Went to GP, got sent for CT and Bone Scan which showed up the fracture.
NUM at hospital was a smart arse and knew all about it *sarcasm* told me I should transfer to a nearby private hospital for physio/rehab on the ligaments.
Anyway, getting there. Got 3 more weeks till the boots come off and then get back to walking again. Another 6 weeks I'm told.

As a side note, anyone want to buy a good YZ450f 2011 model with only 13 genuine hrs on it
Not giving bikes away altogether but going to be a while. Selling this one now, replace it with a new one later.
