Just spent a week there on a farm and loved it, Hivis might just be getting someone else to ride with!

p.s. I caught up with Hivis after talking online for 13 years. Even more interesting in real life! We had a great afternoon chewing the fat. Gods' country up there I reckon.
Now you're getting closer. I lived in Alstonville for a few years when I first moved to the area.. got pushed out by the house pricing but I loved the place. I'm now living somewhere between Evans Head and Casino, have a business in Lismore and a farm with 1500 ac of riding at Kyogle. I've shifted around a bit in my 30 something years but I'm pretty well settled here now, and I highly recommend it.

Byron's long gone and needs a clean out. Beautiful headland/bay that's been absolutely destroyed by backpackers/tourism. It's slowly spreading south, Lennox was the place to be 6 years ago but it's on the same path. Evans/Yamba will be next.

You're 100% correct Hootie. All that's saved Evans/Yamba up until now is the missing link of freeway. I like to get in the water every 2nd day or so. I'm thinking the bypassed towns might come good, Wardell/Broady/Woodburn.

Some of those little river towns really pop once the bypass is in, look at Tumbulgum/Bruns/Chinderah.

I reckon you've nailed it though, 10-20 mins off the main drag in nice country.

i love the south coast, but i can understand why people dont like it. its quiet, its a long way to major centres/cities, pay is not as high as city. but thats how i like it - the offset of low pay is low cost of living so it levels out. one end of my street is the beach, the other end is the bush and the start of 100's of kms of trails.

Bewong and especially Dal are nice spots...but...too cold for me. Just spent time at Alstonville and absolutely loved it. 60 minutes to Surfers, yet set in lush green rolling hills. Eltham Pub, fresh growers markets, awesome surf breaks within 1/2 hour.

I dropped in at Coffs on the way up. I was offered a great job in the motorcycle industry that I'd really like to do. I think I have one more house-build in me, this refurb is almost done.

Not bing tied to a job is a great thing.

yeah i hate the cold in the middle of winter (especially surfing) - but i think i hate the heat more. spending a few years on the gold coast i learnt that i didn't like heat/humidity. but i guess you get used to it.

Plenty of call here for your 2-wheeled expertise, it's hard to find good help and those that have given it in the past are getting out. I'll give you a job if you want to play with 4 wheels.
