SSS forks topping out

My SSS forks have started to top out over large whoops. I replaced the rod seals a week ago this didn't fix it. I've ordered rebound piston bands and the seal in the top of the free pistons. The shims look fine! When I do the seals and piston bands I'm going to face the pistons.
Any other common causes of this on the SSS ??
The cartridge rods have a little wear but not enough to be an issue the only other thing I can think of is maybe the cartridge bore is worn it's hard to see they look smooth.

Is the topping out problem something that has only just developed? You've ridden the same whoops in the past without excessive topping out being detectable?

Does the topping out go away if you crank the rebound damping in?

If the anodising is worn inside the cartridge, normally your inner cartridge oil will blacken quickly.

Yes it's developed over time and yes they have been fine before. I've had to crank the rebound from 12 to 7 Clicks to get control. I'm pulling them down again this week so will see the oil colour. Pretty sure one is going to be black, one was darker last time. If I need a tube any ideas where to get one ?

Cheers Marty

If its worn it will be the inner cartridge tubes where the mid piston runs, not the fork tubes they are fine. I wish it was fork tubes I have 3 sets but no inners.

Well fixed them when I pulled them down one of the cartridge tubes was eating itself. The oil was black very black after two races. Got another set of SSS Cartridges bit of a stuff around they were a little different had to mix and match and machine a few bits. Rode them today was worth the effort.

Had the mid piston band ever been replaced on them Marty? Any idea of the hours on the forks?

The band no they looked ok. One fork was fine the other very dead. I did fit new ones to the pistons in the forks I'm using now though as they did cross my mind. Hours I'm not sure I've had them on 3 bikes plus they were of an 07 yz450f conservative I'd say 600 hours the outer tubes are still good. They have had about 5 or 6 sets of bushes in that time. They are working great again man I love these forks.
