Chapter 8

301 hrs 8150kms
Oil change and gearbox

IRC M5B rear tyre is replaced 17mm worn to 7mm in 1600 kms. The IRC is an excellent tyre plenty of grip. I ran this IRC at about 6psi.

New rear tyre "Savage brand" This tyre tread depth is 14.3mm not as tall as the IRC. Boy what a crap tyre on wet or damp rock. I was running this at 3psi and finally decided to let all the air out and go riding.
I kept it on for 1500kms with 0psi in the tyre . (It would probably be an OK tyre for a trail bike that sees a fair amount of tar riding.)

Changed fork oil Motul 5
Front sprocket changed

315hrs 8505kms
Clake Pro Lever failed sent it back for warranty as both clutch and rear brake piston cups failed.
Valve shims checked, right inlet changed.
Changed all brake and clutch fluids
New cam cover gasket
New rear brake pads and locating pin which fell out when riding.

323 8680kms
Oil change filter and gearbox oil.
348hrs 9372kms
Oil change and gearbox
left rear wheel bearing and seal

358 9630kms
Lithium Battery died probably because I connected a usb charger to it to charge my Yi camera during rides. I left it "on " even when not charging the camera and this killed the battery . Thank goodness for a kick starter on the bike
New battery is SSB LH5L-BS

361hrs 9730
Pirelli M32 90/100 21 front tyre worn out after 3500kms 134hrs.

Replaced with a Shinko 216, 90/100 21. Fatty
Best tyre ever absorbs tree roots small rocks very comfortable at 12psi.

Replaced rear tyre with a Shinko 525 Cheater 120/100 18. 7psi
Those 2 tyres have taken the Beta 390 to a new level. Amazing comfort and grip.

367 hrs 9880kms
Oil change + filter and gearbox oil change plus check Rekluse.

FFS NOT AGAIN the Rekluse bonding of the fibers failed again
Now waiting on Rekluse number 4 in 12months.
Beta clutch back in.

372hrs 9996kms.
Changed 2 plastic oil pump gears and refill new gear box oil.

10,000kms Beta 390 RR review

Whoo Hoo finally done 10,000 kms on the Beta 390 RR

Clake clutch piston cup failed again on the ProLever.
Beta clutch master cylinder back on.

The Beta 390 RR crashes very well it still has all the original plastic, except the black plastic right frame protector.

The battery in the speedo is the original.
Starter motor works fine hot or cold and has only had brushes replaced.

I get at least 14kms per liter. At least 95kms before reserve. (1.25L left)
Thats with 98 octane.
If I use E10 94 octane I hit reserve around 80kms. So 98 it always gets if its available.

The biggest disappointment is that the aftermarket parts, Rekluse and Clake, keep failing. Is there a lesson in there somewhere?

Great report, I bought a new one but my old 16 350 is around the 300hr mark and still being raced with no issues. Have you done a piston ?

300 hours on your 350 is good. Sounds like it is reliable also, with the normal maintenance.

Surprised the clake is giving you issues mate..

My Clake-2 has done around 8k with only the bleed screws needing changing.

It was a toss up between the 390 and the 350 in 17 and the KTM only won as i had lots of bits in the shed would that fit without mucking around including the clake.
