VORC Rd 1. Traralgon Sprint

Just want make sure my understanding of the sprint format is correct. I've looked on the website but i can't find the exact information im looking for.

Your riding on a closed track "enduro special test" style. 1 rider on the course at a time racing against the clock?

Now it goes over 2 days what portion of this do you spend riding? Are there heats, qualifiers, LCQ's, Finals?

Does my pit girl need to be wearing any clothes? Is scantily clad ok/prefered?

Cheers for sorting out my Newb questions.

No, riders leave every 15 - 20 seconds so if your slow you will get passed.
After the first 1 or 2 runs they will grade you as timed and have a board up for your order or running.
Normally there is 2 tracks about 15 - 20 minutes long. You do about 5 or 6 runs on each, depending on entry numbers on the day.

With sprints you have to go hard from the start all the way through the lap. There's no warming into them.
No heats finals, just least amount of time overall for the day/class. THey normally are CC first day and sprints the second day but some clubs do both days of sprints.
You will normally get 1 sighting lap.

I used to hate them, as there's alot of sitting around, but for some reason did better in them to the CC's

Best have the missus in something skimpy to put the other riders off

Good luck.

Pit girl can wear a maximum of a 2 piece bikini, boots and a Brolly.

She can NOT be your Mrs, because then we can't have a perve.

So there's usually 2 tracks. The pros and Experts on one, and the gumby clubbies on the other. Usually swap at half time. Maybe at the end of the day for a 2 day sprint

The juniors mostly run with the smallest group. Mostly...

There's a sighting lap at the start of each track. This enables your transponder too I think.

Then it's time to race.

Starting order is usually based on your fastest lap at the cross country the day before. First race and with no cc to go by, maybe they start us based on outright results last year. You'll be fine to just hang at the back and start last if you want to

You start 15 or 30 seconds apart, depending on the day. It's a buz waiting for the clock to hit your second. Yiiii haaaahhhhh!!!

After your first race, the redo the start order based on your prior lap time.
I was surprised by how casual it all is, considering it's state level racing. So don't stress Dan. Just enjoy the buzz

Stop watch on...

GO!

*8 minutes later*

STOP.

Sit down talk about panthers for 20 minutes whilst making excuses for crashing and letting the guy 30 seconds behind you catch up.

SHIT, I'M UP AGAIN.

**Repeat 20 times over course of weekend.**

Yeah im aware that they are the same date.

I didn't think far enough ahead when i booked the 12 hour. I allowed the weekend for the race and back to work on Monday.... not going to happen driving from Batemans Bay to Melbourne. Im off to Thailand on the Wednesday after it for 3 weeks so I might be pushing it taking the Monday off as well.

That said im nutting out the details and seeing if i can rearrange things and still make the 12 hour. If not then i can still do the VORC round.

So there might be a spot opening up in TeamPeterDan.

First weekend in the VORC is usually sprints. It makes the 'start' of the year a bit easier to organise.

Dust also will be a factor in NOT running a cross country at Traralgon.
