Don't believe everything you read on forums...including this post

In the instructions that B&B supply with the 2 peace bush plate/pipe guard is to drill out 2 holes.
Maybe your mate doesnít have the 2 peace setup or didnít follow the instructions right or like me didnít want to drill into the frame and came up with another idea.

Canít comment on whether drilling is needed as the shop installed for me before I picked the bike up but the only hole I could think of that might need to be drilled out is the one up the top that holds the mounting plate. The stainless cap screw one near the stator wires that you can see in the picture

His is definitely the 2 piece setup.
I asked him today whether he had to mod anything.
He said the whole setup just bolted straight up, no drilling or filing anywhere.
To put things in context though, he's a fitter... so he's got a bit of an advantage over regular folk

B&B's instructions that you mentioned makes me wonder if there's a bit of variation in their product.

I emailed them some time back to see if they'd consider making a similar setup for the previous generation KTM's.
They never responded... perhaps their PR department doubles as QA

Thanks boegey I think that setup will be on the cards with my next two stroke

I have this pipe guard on my 2017 300exc and it been awesome. Strong and doesnt fill up with mud anywhere near as bad as other brands I have seen. Not that hard to take off too if you need to.

Instructions said to slightly enlarge 2 existing holes but fitted it on without having to do this.
