2018 YZ - MX'ers ?

Anyone have any idea if Yamaha are going for a complete overhaul later this year on their 4 stroke mx'ers?
We've now had 4 years of the current design (2014 - 2017), so the timings right but heard very little about anything new.

Some very minor rumours about a potential new 450, more interested in the 250F though. We'd all love to see a new 2 stroke, but close to zero chance of that.
Hoping for electric start on the MX bikes mostly.

Yz 450 is getting some major upgrades in 18 but not the 250 i believe.
Yamaha tend to alternate years between the 250 and 450 models when upgrading.
The 2016 250 got a big upgrade and they refined it in 2017. I'd say a few tweaks for the 250 in 18 and more in 2019.

Will be a bit disappointed that the 250F isn't being overhauled, but progress none the less.

If they ever put a hydraulic clutch on I'll jump the fence from European steeds.

Yamaha clutches on the new bikes are super light and have better feel.

Agreed, I've had both hydraulic and modern cable, really can't tell the difference.

likewise, a well lubed cable can be nicer then hydro. Its strange how people bash jap bikes for something you can upgrade to for $350. Try upgrading your euro steel frame to alloy or the suspension to KYB.... I own a KTM FYI !

I have owned four bikes with hydraulic clutches - only one of them is superior to a good cable clutch.

And alloy frames are NOT a worthwhile upgrade unless you're a fast MX rider on a 4T. Alloy frames are more about ease of manufacture and marketing, way more than they are about any useful performance upgrade.
The Euro brands sticking with steel frames is because they still care about handling in the bush (particularly 2Ts), and aren't just rehashing their MX bikes.

Yeah & good luck pulling the carb on a 4T perimeter-framed bike in the bush.
I really had no idea what a pita it entailed... Or would be until I bought mine.
So much so that-then, logistically, I opted for a plan B... A decent tow rope.
