KTM Voltage Regulator Test?

A friend has a Ď14 250 exc-f with a gremlin. We think his voltage regulator might be on the fritz. Is there a way to test the part individually?

If you provide more info about the gremlin we can all offer some possibilities just in case it's not VR related. FE, a mate kept popping headlight globes, lighting coil had a break in it which was repaired for nearly zero cost, only after buying another set of nearly every electrical component on the bike...

The bike sat for almost 2 years after he painted the frame. Once it was all back together, the battery was dead. New one installed. Still not firing, kicking over but no fire.

He used a test light to check wiring and saw the was a break at the fuel pump. He sent it to the local dealer and they said it was toast so a new one was installed.

Still no fire so more tests. He has narrowed it down to the voltage reg not letting power get to the fuel pump.

Iím not sure if he tried a new plug, Iíve got a feeling he did. I think he would have checked though.

Yeah, the old "bad earth" sticks out like a sore thumb with a painted frame doesn't it.

All earths were checked, he even scraped back paint to get a good contact. There is a new plug in it too.

Might give this a try:
