Dust Devils Hard Ass ride Central Australia

Just gathering some interest in a possible ride i might organize for september or october 2011. Raise money and awareness for mens health, from depression through to cancers. looking to ride around 800km loop from Alice Springs in a day, 70% dirt. Open to all road registered dirt, duel sport and adventure bikes. It will be tough, but i figure cancer is tougher. Will hopefully have support vehicles, spares and some fuel supplied in cost of around $100. Only really thought of it today so details a still on the drawing board.

Sounds veeeeery interesting, count me in as a possibility.
Scratch that make it a probability.
Keep the cost down under a cuppla hungie and i will be able to get a few mates in as well.

Is it too early to ask if it would be going through Mayfield?
Apparently the bulldust there is pretty bad, as in deeper than a 4x4's rooftop.
Doesn't sound like a lot of fun, and going by what i was told would be pretty well impossible on a bike.

It's actually the Mayfield Swamp, not a place as such.

If this is going to do Binns, Andodo, Mt Dare, Finke or something down that way it would be a cool ride but 800km in a day through there would be hell.

Why not overnight at Mt Dare ?

Possible route would be to head west from Alice, then down through Owen Springs, my fave bit of track out here, out to Rainbow valley. Then south down the hwy to Kulgera, being able to stop for premium fuel along the way. Turnoff hwy along Goyder/kulgera stock route, and head east toward Lamberts Centre of Australia. Stop for lunch. Then on to Finke, and up the south rd back to Alice. Would need fuel drops for this section. If a over night stop was included then a turn off out to Chambers Pillar would be possible, which would take the trip closer to 1000km. I really wanted to do the hole trip in one hit. But that would be a huge challenge. Another route would be out around Old Andado to Mt Dare then back up through Finke. Definitely over night if this was to happen.

Would be nice Al.
I said to Rideo yesterday that we should all buy adventure bikes & ride the whole trip, instead of trailering bikes to Alice.
