they are in a boat as I type being moved to a safe area then to a mates place later on today ..
they have got the cat !........

talking 9 meters above river height.

last flood 2010 level was 7.95 their house was just above..
you can do the maths but it looks like the main upper level of the house will have about half a meter of water through it.

just to bring it back to how it started for us ......

I love my sister dearly but we have grown apart .still don't know why..
but I saw that Gladstone was flooding yesterday and rang to see how they were going ..BIL was chatting away to me (first time for many years) didn't think much about rain ..then says I have to go inside I can't hear you for the rain on the veranda roof ............the rest is history being made.

anyway Sis has nominated me as the contact person and all communication is now going through me ...(which I like)

there is a whole lot of people doing it tough at the moment........


when she rang I think they were actually in the boat (they don't have a boat) or about to get in, lots of noise and a dog barking etc........(remember they were taking the cat)

adds a bit of drama to the long weekend, all we can do at this stage is wait ..............

We live on the south side Bundy,just out of town, we are high and dry. lost power for 24 hours(couldnt flush the dunny) but MAN we really feel sorry for mates and people who are getting flooded bad.

just an update from my end .

I don't know anymore................but my sister is a bit of a luddite when it comes to mobile phones etc.......So Iam pretty sure they are ok.

but I would like to say how good is the internet and some of the people right here on DBW, I msg karlmagoo earlier with some other details and he gave me the number of a bloke out in one of the boats doing the rescues/helping out etc............I forwarded the number onto my sis..
But how good is that and how good is this Karlmagoo fella.......

River level is at 9.4m and still rising slowly, new record.
Gasman , Apparently the people who went to oakwood from bundy north were later moved to the Agro trend site as water was rising, try these numbers for more info.

1800 100 188 is the red cross evacuee information.

132 500 for ses emergency rescues

1300 369 003 for ses general enquiries

41530886 for hitz fm studio line or 41530800 normal line.

there is also an evac centre in the citicoast church @ 140 elliot hds road, can't find the number in a pinch, google may help you there.

Hope you manage to get in touch with loved ones. My old man decided to stay with the house after they evacuated everyone else, east side, his vehicles all up on sidewalks with water halfway up the wheels, the 1st bike he,s owned in 20+ yrs put up on planks, house has water at 2nd step and rising, kayaks tied to front door in case of.

Said it,s eerily calm where he is, also eerily beautiful, which i understand, as devastating as it is, it,s also a rare natural event and im sure quite beautiful sitting amongst a river where suburbia was a little while ago. Good luck to anyone involved be it up north or down south, people copping it all over the place, a lot of which goes unreported and barely noticed.
